Most ideas do not arrive as essays. They arrive as a sentence saved too quickly, a question carried home from a conversation, or a connection that only becomes visible while thinking about something else.
This is a place for those beginnings.
I want the writing here to remain close to the process that produced it: curious, provisional, and willing to change its mind. Some notes will concern technology or neuroscience. Others may begin with a photograph, an ecosystem, a company, or something that refuses to fit into a useful category.
Notes rather than answers
Calling these pieces notes is not an attempt to make them less serious. It is permission to leave the edges visible. A finished answer tends to close a subject; a good note should make another question possible.
So this first entry is simply a marker placed in the ground. More will accumulate around it.
